Standards definitions for business process and programming objects are developed and published within the Object Management Group. The November FTTF meeting will involve representatives from OMG and discuss the possible application of the CORBA model within GISB standards.

HTTP File Upload
Previously, form input was limited to input boxes and other simpleelements like checkboxes and radio buttons. Now you can write forms that ask for files as input. A new ENCTYPE attribute on the FORM tag allows you to write forms that take files as input. The full technical specification for HTTP file upload is published as RFC 1867 An example of such a form would be:

Existing Work on Internet Based EDI
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) application working group on EDI has issued a Draft Document describing protocol and security recommendations for EDI over the Internet.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): EDI Meets the Internet by W. Houser (Department of Veteran Affairs Washington D.C. , January 1996. This paper is very basic; asking and answering questions such as How fast is the Internet? What about security? What are the ways that EDI files could be transfered via the Internet?

Testbed Study finds EDI and the Internet Compatible according to Press release on completion of study and Full Report, March 1996 by The National Information Infrastructure Testbed (NIIT) which is the largest private, industry-led "information superhighway" applications consortium in the United States. Founded in 1993, NIIT is a non-profit corporation that develops and tests pilot applications to accelerate the National Information Infrastructure (NII).
